In response to corporate and accounting scandals, the U.S. Congress passed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in 2002, setting forth new standards for the way organizations govern themselves and disclose their auditing practices. This legislation is expected not only to have a dramatic impact on the way organizations operate but also the opportunities it creates for accounting professionals who have obtained up-to-date knowledge of these new standards and practices.

— Concentration in Accounting and Finance

Students learn the functions and roles played by financial markets and institutions and how the flow of funds through various economic systems affects both the personal and business sectors.
